‘Hermès of Peaches’ delivered from the origin! Taichung’s peach marketing event on August 3rd and 4th invites citizens to enjoy summer delights

To promote Lishan peaches, the Taichung City Government’s Agriculture Bureau hosted the Hermès of Peaches: Premium Peaches in Lishan event on August 3rd and 4th at Macaron Park in Taiping District. The event, with a pink theme to highlight the peaches' delicacy and sweetness, was attended by Director Chang Ching-Chang of the Agriculture Bureau on behalf of Mayor Lu Shiow-yen. Hundreds of participants were encouraged to wear pink at the opening ceremony. The event featured a 4-meter-tall peach-shaped balloon art installation and offered various family-friendly games and special promotions on peaches, drawing an enthusiastic crowd and creating a lively atmosphere.
Director Chang noted that Lishan in Taichung is a key region for high-altitude peaches in Taiwan, situated at about 1,800 to 2,000 meters above sea level. The area's high elevation, large temperature fluctuations between day and night, and clean water sources contribute to the peaches' intense aroma and exceptional sweetness. Its premium quality earned them the title of the “Hermès of Peaches.”
Chang also noted that the Agriculture Bureau organized this promotional event to highlight local premium produce. It supported Lishan farmers in marketing their peaches, with premium peaches—normally priced near NT$100 each—being sold for just NT$10, which was a great bargain. Each day, 300 peaches were available on a first-come, first-served basis. The event also featured a 4-meter-tall peach balloon art installation and various exhilarating activities, such as peach balloon rolling races and challenges, making it a fun experience for families.
The Agriculture Bureau highlighted that the event featured a small farmers' market promoting and selling Lishan peaches. Besides the special promotion where each peach was sold for only NT$10, various activities such as the “Rolling Peach Competition” with peach-shaped balloons, performances by the city mascot family—the leopard cats—and fun challenges and DIY experiences were also featured. Attendees also had the opportunity to win small gifts.
In addition, the Protecting Integrity, Happy Taichung section, which focused on topics like anti-corruption laws and consumer protection, was set up on-site. It engaged participants with a quiz that offered prizes to promote awareness of integrity and anti-corruption. Furthermore, participants who took a photo with the giant peach balloon art installation and posted it online could enter a lucky draw to win a “Hermès of Peaches” gift set. The Agriculture Bureau added that Lishan in Taichung City covers 234 hectares for peach cultivation, producing around 2,246 metric tons annually. The peach season lasts from late June to mid-August, which means now is the ideal time to enjoy these fruits. You can place orders online through the Wufeng Farmers’ Association's e-commerce site (https://pse.is/6ab8lq) or iPostmall, or buy them in person from Funcom Supermarket, the Heping District Farmers’ Association, or the Dongshih District Farmers’ Association to support local agriculture.
At the event's opening ceremony, Director Chang Ching-chang of the Agriculture Bureau, Section Chief Huang Kuo-min of the Taiping District Office, Cleaning Squad Leader Chan Cheng-yen of the Heping District Office, Secretary General Li Shun-tung of the Heping District Farmers' Association, Secretary General Chen Ying-yu of the Daya District Farmers' Association, and Executive Director Hung Li-chun of the KMT Taichung headquarters were present. Vice President Chiang Chi-chen of the Legislative Yuan, legislators Yang Chiung-ying, He Hsin-chun, Huang Chien-hao, and city council members Lin Pei-han, Chang Yu-yen, Liu Shih-chou, Wu Chien-te, Lai I-huang, Huang Chia-tien, and Tsai Yao-chieh also sent representatives to show their support.
