To connect regional resources and expand sales channels for agricultural goods, the Agriculture Bureau of Taichung City Government (hereinafter as "the Agriculture Bureau") has guided the Wufeng Farmers’ Association in establishing the Taiwan Farmers Supermarket Alliance. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on the 22nd at the plaza outside the Wufeng Farmers' Association, alongside a collaborative market featuring local produce in partnership with Taichung’s well-known Hope Market(「合樸農學市集」). Deputy Mayor Cheng Chao-hsin attended the ceremony and highlighted the city government’s support and subsidies for the Wufeng Farmers’ Association. The Taiwan Farmers Supermarket, the first store under the alliance, serves as a benchmark and offers consumers a convenient and pleasant one-stop shopping experience for agricultural and fishery products from all over Taiwan.
Deputy Mayor Cheng noted that the city government has guided and subsidized the Wufeng Farmers’ Association in transforming its old agricultural product shopping center into the newly designed, open, and bright Taiwan Farmers Supermarket, a shopping space under the Taiwan Farmers Supermarket Alliance.
Huang Jing-jian, Secretary-General of the Wufeng Farmers’ Association, noted that the alliance leverages the logistics systems of farmers’ and fishermen’s associations and OK Mart's distribution network. This partnership effectively reduces agricultural product transportation costs and benefits both farmers and consumers. Looking ahead, the alliance aims to expand into bilateral trade with countries like Japan and Singapore, promoting Taiwan’s high-quality agricultural goods abroad while introducing premium Japanese fruits to diversify domestic agriculture offerings.
According to the Agriculture Bureau, the Wufeng Farmers’ Association has partnered with the farmers’ and fishermen’s associations in Taichung to establish the Taiwan Farmers Supermarket Alliance. By connecting resources from farmers’ associations nationwide, the alliance aims to expand the sales channels for Taiwanese agricultural products, bringing them to market while also introducing international premium produce to Taiwan, providing consumers with more diverse options.
In addition to the Taiwan Farmers Supermarket opening, the event features a market showcasing a wide range of agricultural product from excellent farmers all over Taiwan. In celebration of the winter solstice, the market will also host a food & agricultural education event where visitors can learn to make Tangyuan(glutinous rice balls). All are welcome to visit Wufeng during the weekends, enjoy local cuisine, participate in hands-on activities, and take home the finest, freshest, and safest agricultural products produced by dedicated farmers.
On the 22nd, the event was attended by Vice President of the Legislative Yuan, Legislator Ho, Hsin-Chun, city council members Lin Pi-hsiu, Li Tien-sheng, Su Po-hsing, Lin Te-yu, Department of Farmers' Service Director-General Chen Chun-yen, Director Chen Shang-jen of the Ministry of Agriculture’s Agriculture and Food Agency, Deputy Director Wang Chih-hsiung of the Taichung Branch of the Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture, Deputy Mayor Cheng Chao-hsin, Director Chang Ching-chang of the Agriculture Bureau, Chairman of Hsu Tsai-hsing the Wufeng Farmers’ Association, Managing Supervisor Huang Ching-piao of the Wufeng Farmers’ Association, and Secretary-General Huang Ching-chien of the Wufeng Farmers’ Association.
